Cutting Straight lines for hinges:
If you are like me, you like the look of embedded hinges rather than tape. The problem I ran into was that unless the hinges were in a straight line and matched up exactly with the slot on the other surface the control surface would not match up exactly with the wing or horizontal stabilizer, so you would end up with an aileron sticking up above the wing at either the root or the tip of the wing.

1) use a carbon fiber stick or even a popsicle stick to hold your hobby knife flat and straight. They both are about 3mm so the hinge ends up in the middle of the surface.

2) Make parallel cuts in both the wing and the aileron. You will find that the cuts end up in the same plane so you hinge line will be straight.

Cutting round holes for round magnets:
We all do it, cut small holes into the depron or fanfold for the magnets to attach out canopys or other hatches. Previously I would just take a exacto knife and go at it, but that always left a jagged hole. What I found works very well is to use a piece of aluminum tubing that is the proper size for the magnet and just use a small metal file to sharpen the inside edge. Now you have a great tool that is cheap and will make the nicest round holes you have ever seen.
